There was an interesting NYT article. It showed the scorecard for grading college admissions (I think they used Princeton)...
Have you seen it? As different as the Service Academy Application is -compared to other institutions- there are many similarities. The article provided a snapshot of one college scorecard. A rough comparison to the WCS.
AP classes, ECA's, class rank, etc. All had places for check marks and corresponding points. Here is where you should take note.
There was a grade for sending a thank-you card.
Now I don't pretend to know the entire list of scorable items at the 5 Service Academies. The items change, the scores change, and the whole thing is above confidential.
My point is, the TOP SCHOOLS grade follow-up and manners. Unlike other schools, you may have at LEAST 4 interviews. Let's count. Liaison Officer. Congressman. Senator 1. Senator 2. All of these people are submitting evaluations about you. Would it not make sense to follow up with these people?
Now take it one step further.
How about your recommendations? If you are submitting an application to more than one Service Academy, your teachers may be filling out more than 4 recommendations for each Academy (to the school plus the 3 MOC Nominations) ! This is a LOT of work. How about a pre-emptive Thank You Card to the teachers? It shows manners and keeps your name on somebody's mind.
Some people use December to slow down and relax. Taking action now can be a great way to stand out in a good way.
